The next Search and Rescue Vehicle for World Disasters
BACKGROUND
Disasters Classification
Our little planet has always been, and will always be, victim to natural disasters, due to scientific and geographic laws. As humanity evolved over the years, those disasters have not only become more frequent and dangerous, but also give birth to new MAN MADE disasters. As the world ceaselessly progresses, it is an undeniable fact that those disasters will cause far greater collateral damage than ever before, especially in the future.
Problem Analysis
As technology and societies developed, most disasters have today become predictable. Unfortunately, no matter how accurately we can predict them, the majority of them still remain unpreventable.
One of the most critical issues of this matter, are the TRAPPED victims. Due to lacking aspects, many victims die during the aftermath of the disaster.
CONCEPT
Main Idea
Facing this issue, I suggest the following proposal:
A new type of vehicle that would combine the best features of both an Ambulance, and an off-road SUV, allowing the vehicle to travel with great agility while providing an optimum level of assistance.
The vehicle would also be equipped with a variety of tools to provide maximum support during the Search and Rescue process.
In other words, this vehicle is not a car, but rather an assistant and reliable tool in the journey of saving lives.
Technical Features
Due to the various threats it will be exposed to, the SALVAGER will be equipped with all kinds of tools that will render it essential in Search and Rescue protocols.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Design Theme
The main theme of this project is entitled SAFE HAVEN. This was an essential aspect of the vehicle as the passengers, once inside, should feel protected and at ease.
Exterior Design
The exterior design was inspired from the turtle shell; A basic simple silhouette with a very specific purpose. This minimalist yet powerful aura was clear and fit well with Audi’s philosophy.
Interior Design
The interior is structured to isolate the driver so he would not be distracted by the other passengers. It also provides a great amount of space for the passenger and the doctor for a quick yet effective assistance.
